Cracked Earth

I spent much of yesterday listening to Pastor Steven Furtick, Lysa TerKeurst & many others discuss Pastor Furtick’s new book Crash the Chatterbox. It was really wonderful to hear interview after interview, discussion after discussion describe how we all experience constant noise or chatter in one form or another. The best part of it all is the simple truth that we have a solution for the chatter, and that solution is the very voice and word of God.

We must replace the negative, loud talking, irrational, falsities that we experience every single day, with the truth of God. This truth includes who He says we are, what He says we can do and who He created us to be.

I must admit, I’ve been wrestling with my own chatterbox over the past year. I’ve listened to it tell me that my work didn’t make sense, that I wasn’t on the right path, that in the grand scheme of things, my work and my efforts really didn’t matter. What a lie! I wasted so much time and energy warring with myself, in my mind and in my heart. By the grace of God, I’m no longer in that place.

I’m a big believer that we are what we think and speak, so to fight the war in my mind each day made me wonder if I should be concerning myself with teaching and sharing with others. I thought that if I couldn’t get control of the chatter, how could I accomplish the work that I was so desperately trying to share with the world?

One of the theme’s from yesterday’s discussion included that most of the time, the more work you do, the more you achieve, the bigger your audience, the louder and more aggressive the voices become. And, the voices don’t go away – ever! This was so liberating. I’m not alone. And more importantly, I KNOW I’m on the right path. Generally, when you’re right where you’re supposed to be, when you’re about to disrupt the enemies plans and comfort zone, the attack becomes greater and more intense. So today, I’m praising God all the more! I’m in position and He will protect me as I follow Him deeper and deeper into the battlefield.

This is no game. This is truly a war. The enemy of our souls doesn’t want us to win, believe in ourselves or impact the world. He wants us to shrink back, cower in the corner and forget who we are and the God we serve. We can’t idly sit by and allow that to happen. We have to crash the chatterbox!

God has given me a series of books to write under the heading Set the Atmosphere, so when I receive messages from readers who appreciate my inspirational posts and comments, many times I think, you have no idea how many of today’s words were just for me. When I speak and when I share, I’m doing so in the authority God has given me, following His lead and sharing His words for my life and yours. I’m setting the atmosphere in my own life, while silencing my chatterbox with His presence and encouraging you to do the same.

Check out the book for yourself :

Here are some of my notes from yesterday:

God is an affirming, loving God, coaching you throughout life.

Instead of asking God for His guidance, ask God to be your Guide.

No matter my age. No matter my experience. God picked me!

The risk of missing out on what God has for you & created you to do outweighs messing up.

Powerful book. Powerful word . Powerful God.

I’m so thankful that I know God & for fresh grace & mercy each day.

Peace & Blessings!

  1. I can’t tell you how well timed these words are for me. Just a few days ago, I started questioning everything I am doing and had decided to give up on my blog. The very thing I felt God so strongly telling me so to start. Those false internal voices were telling me I was failing, that I didn’t have anything of value to offer, that I wasn’t good enough. None of this is true in light of the Gospel! Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. I definitely need to read this book! This note you took really spoke to me: The risk of missing out on what God has for you & created you to do outweighs messing up. I am going to keep pressing forward and continuing to write. Instead of fearing failure, I am going to trust God and His amazing plan!
