There is a way to redirect your thoughts and attention. It’s a simple grounding practice and it’ll help you quickly calm the worry you’re experiencing.

Here’s what you need to do:

Begin by closing your eyes and taking a deep breath. Then, open your eyes and look around the space you’re in.

Step 1 : Describe 5 things you see

Step 2 : List 4 things you can feel

Step 3 : Identify 3 things that you hear

Step 4 : Notice 2 things you can smell

Step 5 : Detail 1 thing that you love about yourself

This sensory practice will help you shift the energy fueling your worried thoughts and return some of that energy to your physical being and environment.

Do you often struggle with worried thoughts? What has worked to help you break the worry cycle?
