Settling can be subtle. It hangs out with you, happy to be along for the journey.

Then, one day you look up and realize that you never went for the things you truly wanted in your life because you were so comfortable with settling.

So let’s shake things up a little and talk about some of the ways you’re settling so you can make a conscious decision to do something different.

Ways settling shows up in your life:

  • You have a new goal in mind but you don’t want to seem ungrateful for what you already have, so you act as if you’ve reached your peak because there couldn’t possibly be anything more you want or need in life
  • You care about what the people in your life will think and feel about your decision. You don’t want them to hurt your feelings if they disagree or aren’t as excited about something as you are, so you remain silent and never take action
  • You believe there are plenty of people doing the thing that you want to do, so you think, what’s the point? So you don’t even realize that your voice, perspective and contribution in that space is equally as significant.
  • You hesitate because you don’t believe you have what it takes, even though you haven’t taken any steps towards getting ready

However settling is showing up in your life, it’s time to start rethinking your narrative. You’re here to live a full, vibrant, purposeful life.

You’re not here to settle, shrink or surround yourself with excuses about why you can’t become a better, happier, healthier version of yourself.

It’s okay to want more, to try again, to never settle.

Keep striving and giving your life everything you’ve got. You’ll survive any failures you have to go through. What will hurt the most is knowing that settling filled your life with regrets.

So tell me in the comments, how have you been settling? And what are you going to do to begin taking action?
