If you realized how powerful your thoughts are, you would never think a negative thought. – Dr. Caroline Leaf
This week, I have the pleasure of attending a conference with special guest Dr. Caroline Leaf. Dr. Leaf is a cognitive neuroscientist and can eloquently explain things like epigenetics, or the processes of the brain that positively and negatively switch genes on or off based on your choices and reactions.
I know, powerful stuff. I believe it’s fascinating and true. And it fully supports my beliefs of the mind, body, spirit connection.
When you think a thought that is positive, this gives life to your cells and your body. The thought in your mind literally causes your brain to generate a chemical reaction in your body and this results in a physical manifestation of wellness. The opposite occurs with negative thoughts resulting in disease.
When you add the spiritual component, the same thing occurs. What you believe and practice spiritually, manifests as a real physical and chemical state within your body.
As a holistic nurse, I view the totality of my clients. I take into account your spiritual practices, the way you think and what you believe and view them as equally important as what you eat, how long you exercise and the quality of rest you get each night.
Without the entire picture, you may temporarily mask pain or symptoms, but ultimately they will return or show up in a different way. You must get to the root of the problem and you can only do that if you’re aware of each aspect of who you are.
I have the privilege of connecting with thousands on social media each day and although I occasionally share health and wellness tips, I find it critical to bombard others with truth, inspiration and positivity because without it, we each wither a bit more each day and open the door for sickness and disease that all began with incorrect thinking.
I’m truly looking forward to this conference and count it a privilege to be a part of the mind, body, spirit community.
