Ashtanga Yoga refers to classical yoga’s eight-limb practice. The eight limbs are restraint, observance, posture, breath control, sense withdrawal, concentration, meditative absorption, and “enstasy,” which means to standing inside of. This method of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures, with emphasis placed upon the correct performance of the third limb (posture) as a means of realizing all the limbs. This practice produces an intense internal heat and profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies the body, resulting in improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind.
