Encouraging our children to rest, for whatever reason, can ignite a relentless rebellious energy.
You know what I mean.
All of a sudden they’re starving, need to use the bathroom or unleash a series of questions that even Google would struggle to keep up with.
I try to avoid mentioning sleep at all costs. But I know they need it.
So instead of bringing up the topic, I simply add a winning combination of essential oils to my diffuser.
I usually turn on music and the diffusers at the same time. After a few days, the combination of hearing the music and smelling the oils sends the signal that it’s time to sleep without ever saying a word.
Here are the 3 essential oils I use to create a naptime ritual:
Gentle Baby
Gentle Baby essential oil was made with parents and children in mind and offers a sense of calm and tranquility.
Peace & Calming
Peace & Calming essential oil helps to create a relaxing environment and provide feelings of comfort.
Lavender
Lavender essential oil is both calming and relaxing and provides a sense of balance.
You can also add Sleepize to this list. However, if you’re trying to get any work done – at all – I don’t recommend using this oil because it’ll put you to sleep as well. But if you’re napping right along with the littles, go for it.
I use about 4-6 drops of each oil, but use less or more depending on the size of your space. This combination works very well for all of our children, but as always, keep trying until you find the combination that works best for you and your children.
This essential oil ritual works for bedtime too. Use the same combination of essential oils in your diffuser and get those little ones off to sleep in no time.
