Neem is both antibacterial and anti-inflammatory with all parts of the neem tree used medicinally.
The bark can be used as an astringent. The leaves can be used as an infusion, treating conditions such as ulcers, or applied topically as an ointment for skin wounds, ulcers and eczema. The juice of the leaves has been used to treat eye conditions such as conjunctivitis.
Research indicates that neem can also stabilize blood sugar levels.
Neem is used as an insecticide, is strongly antifungal and antiviral, can prevent ringworm and scabies and used to treat head lice.
As with all herbal remedies and medications, check with your care provider before using neem, especially if you have diabetes or are trying to conceive. Neem can reduce fertility in both men and women.
