Changing your mindset is as easy as making the decision to do so….

Until it isn’t.

There are times when you can shift your mindset cold turkey. But more often than not, we try to suppress or avoid certain thoughts and ideas. This approach not only slows down the process, but usually amplifies exactly what we’re trying to avoid.

The good news is, you’re in control of your mind and your thoughts and you can use them to set yourself up for your best life.

Each thought you allow to flow through your mind, changes the physical structure of your brain. This occurs because of neuroplasticity – your brains ability to restructure, positively or negatively, based on the thoughts and choices we make.

Good, bad, positive, negative, stressed, calm, determined or defeated – your mind impacts your body, your spirit and your life.

So what do you need to do when shifting your mindset isn’t coming to you easily?

First, you have to identify the need for a mindset shift. Whether it’s a major irrational thought, that simply isn’t true or something from the past that you can’t seem to let go of, acknowledging its presence is the first step to changing it.

Next, you need to decide exactly what you want to shift your mindset to. Not only can you get rid of an old way of thinking, that’s no longer serving you, but you can move forward with greater, more beneficial thought patterns. that shift your mindset in the direction you want your life to go.

Now you can begin replacing your old mindset by taking the daily action of repeating the thoughts you actually want to have. It can take a few weeks, or more for the mindset shift to fully take root, so it’s important that during that time, you stay focused on the direction that you want to go in, instead of the old patterns you want to replace. Your goal is to uproot those old thoughts, so revisiting them will only make the process take longer.

Shifting your mindset takes time and intention, but you can use your thoughts to accomplish whatever goal or mindset shift you need to take place.

Rehearsing the thoughts and mindset you actually want can help you move from worried to calm, drained to energized and defeated to thriving.

It’s time to start shifting your mindset, capitalizing on your potential and propelling your life forward in the direction you want to go.
